Open Source Policy Workshop

It shouldn't take months to formulate an open source policy. The JumpStart Open Source Policy Workshop accelerates the process of developing a policy through expert advice from experienced consultants, on-site meetings, and a policy workbook. Together with representatives from your legal, technical, and procurement departments, your JumpStart consultants will guide you through the workbook, which includes recommendations, exercises, best practices, sample policies, and other critical resources. The workshop sessions will drive decisions around key open source issues for the enterprise such as selection, sourcing, usage, support, maintenance, and tracking and auditing open source deployments.

At the end of the workshop you will have an initial policy ready for implementation, which will allow your engineers to move forward on open source initiatives within approved and enforceable guidelines.

Follow Up Consultation

A one-day review meeting will be held approximately two weeks after the initial JumpStart Workshop sessions. During this meeting your JumpStart consultants will work with you to assemble, review and finalize a draft open source policy. The specific agenda for this day consists of both one-on-one and team meetings. It includes a one-hour executive presentation by OpenLogic and representatives from your team to educate and gain buy-in from key executive stakeholders within the company. The JumpStart package also comes with two days of off-site consulting to resolve outstanding issues, review your new policy document, and help coordinate its implementation throughout the enterprise.

He is a Sun Certified Java Architect and holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Software Engineering from the University of Louisville.
Brian Fan - A Partner in Olliance Group, Brian has extensive experience in software development, marketing, and finance. Brian has worked for a diverse range of companies including Microsoft, Walt Disney Company, and Proctor & Gamble. He is actively involved in open source business strategies as well as licensing concerns and intellectual property compliance.
Stormy Peters - Stormy is OpenLogic's Director of Community and Partner Programs. She founded and managed the Open Source Program Office at Hewlett-Packard, where she was responsible for strategy, policy and business practices. She was also a founding member of Hewlett-Packard's Linux Division and a co-founder of the non-profit GNOME Foundation.
